Xanax is an antianxiety medication and as such, it could help relax you so that sleep would come easier, but as already said it is very addictive and not meant to be a sleep aid, If having difficulty sleeping, first you need to find out why you are having problems. It is not good to take any medication regularly to help you fall asleep. It is not recommended to take a sleeping pill for more than 30 days. You really need to find out what your problem is, and get that treated. Best to talk to your doctor and try to find out what is wrong and get it corrected. He/she may prescribe something more appropriate to help you in the meantime. Good luck to you.

Not exactly... It is an antianxiety medication, but I suppose it could help you get to sleep. There are better medications, such as Lunesta, Ambien, etc.. that are specifically meant to help a person fall asleep and stay asleep for 7-8 hours without much of a risk of dependency. Xanax is easy to get addicted to, so I wouldn't recommend it as a sleeping aid.

xanax isn't a sleeping pill. but it can relax people so they can fall asleep. If you have trouble sleeping, I'd try something more mild first.

Anti-Anxiety = Calm
Not meant for sleeping but does the trick. Depends on the Milligram but usually it will relax you enough to fall asleep. ADDICTIVE
