How 'bout the Honda Fit? It's better than the both of them. The Sentra and yaris actually aren't in the same category. Sentra is probably better than the yaris, but the yaris is better than it's competitor, the Nissan Versa.

"get vw theyre good and reliable.. "
Are you kidding me?
VW has owned the bottom 3 spots for reliability on, JD Power, Consumer Reports, and Consumer Affairs for the last 7 CONSECUTIVE YEARS.... (no other car brand has ever held this honor for more then 3 consecutive years)
Normally, i would suggest a toyota, but the yaris is plauged with problems. It really is quite unusual for a toyota to have many issues, but this model had the most amount of recalls of any car in 2006.
I would absolutley recommend a camry, but not the yaris.
Actually, Hyundai has made phenominal leaps in quality/reliability between 2005-07, and are now ranked among toyota and honda in reliability.
So sante fe ..thumbs up
camry....thumbs up
accord/civic... thumbs up
yaris... thumbs down
vw... thumbs down
any gm product... thumbs down
mazda 3.. thumbs up
mini cooper... thumbs up

best advise is deside how much you can afford.
do not be sucked into thinking you can afford a caddalac becuase they can give it to you for 200 a month. always look at the TOTAL payout.
nxt make a list of what you need the car to do..hall skies?
big boxes?
then consider safety. giving up a little millage for something that is safer or something that will hual a slightly bigger pakage may make you happier in the end. Also consider resale. Don't be fooled into the sales person telling you that sure the options are expensive but you will get it back when you sell. Your best return is always on a plain jane vehicle. if you buy 2000 worth of options you will never get 2000 more for the car when you sell it. but it may be easier to sell with certain options...hops that helps...Lets

Toyota,Honda, Make the most reliable cars. Hyundai has come along way and is as good as any american made car with a better warranty and low price. Stay away fromVW they are riddled with electrial problems and tire/rim problems. Stay away from kia it doesn't get much worse in the dependablity factor than that.

Honda civic for sure. The newly styled body is sweet. I have a friend who has one and he absolutely loves it. I own a 95 Honda Accord with more than 250 thousand miles on it. Quite dependable I say.

those are both good choices. I'm a bit prejudiced toward Toyota. I've had 5, abused the heck out of everyone of them, and they ran like a top. Never failed.
In the vernacular, they're bullet proof.
