OK So I had a package of chicken tenderloins in the freezer... they weren't like gross or anything, a lil ice hair. So i rinsed them in cold water and tossed them in the skillet. They looked weird when they were cooking... like a salmon pink almost. I seasoned it up and now that its done... i'm leary. Should I eat it? Or save it for when my hubby gets home and pretend I made it just for him?? -evil grin-

I have a Culinary degree and work in a kitchen for a living. In kitchens we have a saying, "When in doubt, throw it out." Your chicken is probably perfectly fine though. If it was not properly stored in the freezer it probably got freezer burnt which is where the chicken becomes dehydrated and chemical changes in the pigment take place. Assuming the chicken was good when it was frozen and wasn't left in the temperature danger zone (41-140 degrees) for an extended period of time, it is probably fine. If the chicken wasn't properly thawed/cooked/etc, throw it out. Your health is worth more than an 89 cent/pound chicken :)

If you cook it to a point where it is cooked all the way through, chances are you're not going to get sick from it. I have also worked at restaurants, and there is another saying - 360 degrees will kill just about anything. However, you might want to throw it out because it won't taste as good.

I'd try a small bite first and if it doesn't taste like you should be eating it, then stop eating it.

I would have smelled the chicken before cooking it. If it smells funny, then cooking the hell out of it won't help. When in doubt, throw it out!

Not worth the chance.
Really,
Toss that mess out and either whip up some mac and cheese or order mcburgers.
