When a guy gets a girl pregnant without her consent, he's a sex offender and a felon. But when God knocks up Mary without her consent, it's all ok.

Hey, I think most any woman would be ok with carrying a child if she later learned it was the direct offspring of God. But that's consent after-the-fact. Where is it written that Mary was cool with being knocked up from the moment of conception?

Sounds like God slipped Mary the ultimate mickey.

Is there a double standard here?

Hey guys, thanks to all who cited Luke 1:38 as evidence that she consented. But like I said, this consent comes after-the-fact. According to Luke 1:31, the angel Gabriel TELLS her she's going to have the child, and TELLS her what she has to name him. He doesn't ask, "Hey Mary, would it be ok with you the Big Guy knocks you up?" No, he TELLS her.

Hey, this Gabriel guy sounds like bad news. I mean, what if an intimidating guy you've never met before comes to you and says, "You WILL kiss my appendage." What if you're a meek little damsel as Mary is shown to be? Are you going to debate him? He's intimidating, for Pete's sake! And, this is all before the women's lib movement.

So, the question remains, when did the Big Guy get consent BEFORE Mary was TOLD what she had to do?

I think this is a legitimate question. I don't have the answer.

However, almost everyone says God sent an angel who TOLD Mary she will have God's son.
Telling her she will have God's son is not getting consent. Of course she agreed to it AFTER she was TOLD she will bear God's child. But that's still not getting consent BEFORE THE FACT.

Where does it say God got consent BEFORE THE FACT?

Mary was happy about the pregancy. (Luke 1:46-55) She knew who the Messiah was and she became the most blessed of all women. God never had sex with her. She just became pregnant with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Mary is the one that the Jews knew as the sign of a "virgin would give birth to a son" (Isa 7:14) And the angel said the son would be the Son of God and would save her people! Now that is some good news!

According to Matthew 1:38 God did get consent.

Since everyone already established that Mary gave her consent by saying "be it unto me" and "let thy will be done," I must say that God don't need to ask for consent, although He did. He is our Creator, the one who knows every cell in our being. He composed our life before we were even form in our mothers womb. Since He is the author of what is to become of us, Isn't it just logical that if he had chosen you or mary or whoever to bare His child would consent to what He is planning on doing? Beside, He doesn't need to your consent, He can do as he pleases for He created you. However, since He is a great, mighty, good, wonderful, kind, gentle, full of understanding God, He will ask the consent hence the reason Mary said "be it unto me." God is soo Great, nothing escapes his logic.

Almost speechless,

First God is the maker of everybody. Mary was told before she was impregnated that she would have the Messiah by an angel. She did accept it but she was very nervous and confused about the situation. Mary was a very religious women and came from a very religious background or family so she would be honored to be the mother of Jesus.

She may not have been ok with being impregnated (I'm pretty sure Joseph was P.O.'d to find his bride-to-be knocked up...) but I'm sure she was ok with being part of God's plan.
