Would you have a problem dating someone who used to cut? *Look at link for information*

Would you try to help her, get to know her before you judged her because of her scars or her past?

Would you think she was just a psycho *****?
What is it?

People who inflict physical harm on themselves are often doing it in an attempt to maintain psychological integrity -- it's a way to keep from killing themselves. They release unbearable feelings and pressures through self-harm, and that eases their urge toward suicide. And although some people who self-injure do later attempt suicide, they almost always use a method different from their preferred method of self-harm. Self-injury is a maladaptive coping mechanism, a way to stay alive. Unfortunately, some people don't understand this and think that involuntary commitment is the only way to deal with a person who self-harms. Hospitalization, especially forced, can do more harm than good.

I checked out the linkand I learned something new.
Until now I though these people were psychotic. I guess my bottle of boose is no different than their knives.

I haven't in the past, but I will be more understanding in the future about this sensitive issue and the everyday people it affects.

No I wouldn't have a problem. It's the past. That person had some real issues and has to be reassured that things are better now. Why would anyone judge someone who had a common problem? Cutting isn't a crime or immoral, it's a condition.

The amount of people in this world who are truly 'well adjusted' are very few. My answer to your question is I would not have a problem dating someone who used to cut. Many people have emotional scars from their traumas you apparently have both emotional and physical scars from some trauma.

Dating someone in an attempt to help their psychological problems is NEVER a good idea.

If that part of her life was truely behind her, then I wouldn't care; but cutting yourself ALWAYS indicates mental instability.

No because your past is your past........hopefully I would be able to give enough happiness so that she wouldnt harm herself anymore.........so in away I would hope to be inspirational instead negative.
