Sorry. If you have a shellfish allergy, you need to stop eating it. Shellfish allergies are among the most dangerous ones - they often cause anaphalatic shock, which can be fatal.

I sympathize with you - I developed my shellfish allergy when I was 16, and that's the only kind of fish I like.

It really depends on how severe your reaction is. I'm am severely allergic to shrimp/crab/lobster/most shellfish, but about 15 minutes before I plan to eat shellfish, I take at least 25mg of benedryl or 50 mg depending on how much I want to eat. I've never had a reaction since. If you are going to try it, keep benedryl near by just in case. You might want to go to an allergist to test to see if you are allergic to other shellfish or anything else too.

Ive been allergic to shellfish now since i was 13 and i am now 27. Each time i ate it my immune system got worse. I broke out in hives, eyes rolled back in my head, itching and trouble breathing. No there is no cure because obviously i love shrimp and lobster but the doctor told me the next time i might die. I dont think sea-food is worth all of that. Do you??

An estimated 150 Americans die each year from severe allergic reactions to food, says Hugh A. Sampson, M.D., director of the Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and a food allergy expert.>>

Now do you still want to continue?

If you are allergic to it you cannot eat shrimp and most likely any other shellfish. There is nothing you can do for this type of allergy.

I would avoid eating them if I were you.

Taking antihistamines will help with some symptoms, but food allergies can be life-threatening in some cases.

They can cause severe respiratory problems, and if that happens, you will need to get to a hospital very quickly.

no and eating it can be very dangerous for you. once you develop a food allergy, repeated exposure could make you have more severe reactions. Avoid shrimp at all costs! I know it sucks, but you'll live!

eating shellfish of any kind.... it is the iodine that you are more than likely allergic to...

and sadly.. there is nothing you can do to "cure" this...

and in fact.. it is dangerous for you to continue eating shrimp.. etc.. as you can have your throat swell shut..."anaphylactic shock."

and stop breathing....= die.

I warn you don't eat it. Depending on your reaction it can kill you! As far as cure, I believe there isn't for that. I do believe they have a shot they give that can help with the sensitivity of it. Ask your doc! Avoid seafood!
