This gem from South African Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad: "South Africa will not be put off its policy of quiet diplomacy towards Zimbabwe by foreign critics, and will continue to try to bring the two Zimbabwean sides together in a dialogue."
Is this before or after opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai comes out of the hospital, after the brutal beating administered to him by thugs of South African ally Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF ruling party?
The shape of things to come South Africa?

Watzzzup - you are indicative of the baboon like, Neanderthal mentality that many black Africans have, which will eventually cut your own throat.
With no white people around, who will look after you?

hopeful eclectic - no problem, babe, I've been called far worse names than that.
Your take on Communism kind of sums up the depth of your intellect.
They pulled my Mandela question, so here's my reply to you again regarding that wonderful political system - Communism has never worked because it negates individual achievement, not for your ridiculous` reasons ie: the system is wonderful, but people, through laziness, corruption and murder somehow pervert it.
If that's your assessment of human nature, fine, talk for yourself, not for me, ok?
Regarding Mugabe and the ANC - South Africa was never 'liberated', a white dictatorship simply became a far worse black dictatorship. Mugabe and the ANC are ideological partners.

As much as I (decidedly) despise/hate/loath you, you actually make a good point. Unfortunately, Robert Mugabe was one of those people, besides the Marxist thugs you mentioned, who helped the ANC to fight Apartheid. But really...I think the debt has more than been paid, we're starting to look incredibly stupid.
Note: not sucking up, you're an ignorant, generalising idiot, but sometimes even idiots make the mistake of saying something smart from time to time.

Quiet diplomacy is ANC speak for Silent Aquiesence. Pahad is a total fool who last year entertained and discussed ANC Middle East Policy with the Palestinian terrorist and plane hijacker Leila Khaled. As you know the ANC had no problem in administering the brutal "necklace" on Black South Africans in the 80's and it would be too much to expect of them to worry about opposition to their idealogical brothers in Zimbabwe. It is only a matter of time before the same nonsense starts in South Africa as all the sign are there i.e land grabs,farm/home attacks, crumbling infrastructure, power cuts, genocide (of Whites in SA but other tribes in Zimbabwe),worthless currency etc.

I am South African, and frankly, I'm disgusted by the events of the last few weeks.
The ruling party in my country (the ANC) received support from Mugabe's Zanu-PF during the Apartheid years, and in my opinion they will never change their policy towards him.
I'm truly worried that the ANC has decided to let events run their course in Zimbabwe, with the objective of implementing similar policies if Mugabe emerges unscathed.

The thing to keep in mind with the whole south africa and zim story is that zim helped the ANC to get South Africa and this is the reason why South Africa or rather the ANC will keep quite about the zim situation.
The ANC has got alot to loose when they do open their mouths about Mugabe

Mbeki and his comrade Mugabe have been in bed together for years, there exists no such thing as "quiet diplomacy" only "secret support".
That is not about to change anytime soon.

I'm not at all surprised that they are following that route. They generally make some kind of ****-up of anything they do so why should this be any different. The alternative is that they actually do something, which, based on their track record, will probably be even worse.

That's just another way for Mbeki to say: I'm too pathetic a "leader" to do anything about anything or have an opinion about anything.

Quiet diplomacy is no diplomacy, there is no such during a conflict. You either help or don't help, but being quietly diplomatic about it is being a coward.
