go to the doctor and get pills dude. i know exactly how you feel as i have insomnia and have spent many nights unable to turn my mind off. i went in and have tried a few that didnt work or would work but it was like id get used to it and they wouldent work anymore. then i tried ambien and it helped me fall asleep within 20-30 minutes but sometimes i would wake up after 4-5 hours of good sleep and not be able to fall back to sleep the rest of the night. now i'm on ambien cr and it works great i sleep for 7-9 hours and wake up feeling sooo much better than i used to. if you have insurance that will cover it i suggest getting it

Your best bet is to go see a doctor and ask him for some help. Don't try taking meds you're not able to take by accident. Most sleeping meds are perscription, unless you try downing Nyquil every night before you try and sleep. If and when you start taking meds, give yourself at least 9-10 hours depending on the potency of the drug.

You should try Ambien.. the lowest dose first.. all though i've heard of people "sleep-driving" while on this medication.. it must work...
check with your doctor. It's non-addictive as opposed to other prescribed sleeping aids.. or you could always try Over the counter sleeping aids if you want to avoid doc fees.

If you had insomnia for more then three days see a doctor immediately. If not, you can take OTC medicines like Valerian root extract that will put you to sleep. Another good OTC sleep aid is meletonin. Otherwise there are prescription medicine that is available for sleep available by your doctor.

For days I had really bad insomnia. I even started whacking the side of my head trying to knock myself unconscious it was getting that bad. All that did though was cover me in bruises.... I was prescribed Endep. It's a muscle relaxant. It certainly lets you get comfortable and able to sleep. I'm sure it will help you out.

There are relaxation techniques that work. You don't necessarily need drugs or counseling.
Like this:

I've also heard people who took yoga and were able to relax more than they ever have.

sometimes when I can't sleep I switch which side of the bed my pillow is on and sleep that way. try thinking I am going to fall aleep in a certain amount of time over and over again, and then count down...ummm lull yourself to sleep with music...I have tried all of these and they do work..oh and sleep is easier when you have something to cuddle..if you don't already have a stuffed animal get one! you don't have to be a kid to enjoy them!
