I'm pregnant, and have been dealing with in grown toe nails this past year due to nail fugus (I groom dogs and am always wet in my shoes!!!). I have been able to lift nail out and cut it every few weeks successfully, but the time before this, I got an infection in my right toe and was able to heal it at home by soaking and drawing out infection/pus. This time, it is on my other toe and it is continuing to swell. I can not get the pus to drain out, I've been soaking it and puting on triple antibiotics. I am nervous to go to doctor because due to pregnancy, is it ok for them to numb it? i would like to just have portion or all of nail removed before infection spreads. Should I be calling into work tomorrow, and following days -- will it worsen as I stand on it?

Go to the doc and tell him or her that you are pregnant. It's more important to see a doctor early when you are expecting than when you're not. Physicians have a lot of information about what is safe or unsafe during pregnancy. It's important that you take care of the infection now before it spreads and treatment becomes more difficult.

I don't know if just standing on it will make it worse, but your working conditions are doing so. You need to keep your feet dry. Do you have waterproof shoes or boots? You can change your socks if your feet get sweaty. Get some thick socks that don't have cotton in them. Cotton gets soggy fast.

Take good care of yourself!

Yes you should go to the Foot Dr.s asap. And you can have them just freeze it so there is no need for numbing agent. It doesn't take all the pain away but Its managable. I had it done a few years back. They use a small aresol can and it just freezes the tissue and then they cut it. Its not that bad And I made it through with flying colors. Just have something to focus on and you will be fine. You could also try soaking it in Epsom salts also

I think u shld go n c a doc to have the nail remove.
Its juz a simple outpatient small surgical procedure.
Juz need to change the dressing every now n then.
A new toe nail will grow soon if its juz ur 1st time removing it. Dont risk da infection.
You can wrap ur toe in a small plastic bag to prevent contact with water...
:/ hope this helps

You need to go get this treated. They are used to treating pregnant women so they won't do anything that could harm the baby. Head to urgent care in the morning and get this taken care of.
