C'mon, I know you do. Anybody who interprets everything in the Bible literally is a fool, correct? We can all agree on that. Now, given that fact, which beliefs do you find suiting to your life? What out of the Bible is really fitting for you? It's so great to be able to find convenient words from the Bible depending on the situation! If something seems outright rediculous, we can chalk it up to metaphors! I'm so glad that I can refute virgin birth, the flooding of the entire world, and the various evil statements therein!! Deuteronomy 20:10-14, Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT, Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT, Exodus 21:15 NAB, Exodus 22:19 NAB, 2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB, Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT, Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB, Exodus 31:12-15 NLT, Romans 1:24-32 NLT, Leviticus 24:10-16 NLT, Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT, etc. How splendid it is to be a Christian! How wondrous! Thank God I will be able to go to heaven while most of the world suffers for eternity! God loves you, unless you don't love him

It sounds like you are describing Cafeteria Christians or Cafeteria Catholics.

Cafeteria style dining means to pick and choose what food to take from a cafeteria line.

The term "Cafeteria Christians" refers to people who view Christianity like a cafeteria where one picks and chooses only those beliefs that appeal to them and reject a genuine interpretation of Christian doctrine and the teachings of Jesus.

The term "Cafeteria Catholics" is similar. It is used to describe people who dissent from certain teachings of the Catholic Church while maintaining an outward identity as Catholics.

In Los Angeles in 1987, Pope John Paul II said: "It has to be noted that there is a tendency on the part of some Catholics to be selective in their adherence to the Church's moral teaching. It is sometimes claimed that dissent from the magisterium is totally compatible with being a "good Catholic," and poses no obstacle to the reception of the Sacraments. This is a grave error that challenges the teaching of the Bishops in the United States and elsewhere."

Heresy is the obstinate denial after Baptism of a truth which must be believed with with divine and Catholic faith.

"Cafeteria Catholics" in denial of certain truths are in danger of committing heresy.

With love in Christ.

I dont pick and chose. The Spirit leads and is in line with the bible. We are justified by faith not the law. Jesus has paid all the death penalty for sin. No one is killed for the sake of keeping the Law because Jesus made the final attonement for sin, even yours. Why are you so bitter?

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (Mt 33:20-40)
So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. (Gal 3:24-35)

The Messiah has come and the promises are fulfilled, these is the time that the prophets prophesized about, the time we would live by faith and the gentiles seek the Lord and call upon Him.

If you love God and your neighbor you will not sin against them but show them love through Jesus Christ.

I believe in the concepts put forth in the Bible. I believe that those concepts were put forth by God himself. However, a lot of the detail stuff I suspect is more man than God.

If God is as intelligent as he must be in order to have begun it all, then I doubt very much if he would attempt to explain to man exactly how he did it. They or we could not possibly understand. Although, it is a little convincing when you read the creation story because it does come very close to what science says the sequence of events was. The primary difference is the time table. It is very hard to comprehend how a man of more than 3000 years ago could have had enough scientific knowledge at that time to even hazard a guess, let alone come so close to the scientific theory. That tells me a lot.

Well, if you're a Christian, the Pope is just a guy. A holy guy but he's not the end all be all for Christians. That's Catholics man. Get it straight before you go on a tirade. You're just upset because people shot you down earlier and called you out for being a hateful little cynic. Tis ok, you'll live another day to post ranting questions with no meaning.

It's wondrous that you're all worked up over something that has no effect on you. Are you that bored, dear? There are free online games to play. You need something because your blood pressure must be through the roof agonizing over other people's beliefs. What a burden you must shoulder! I'm calling Amnesty International to inform them what you're doing for humanity. Your work must not go unnoticed.

I'm sorry you cannot have total faith in The Lord in that you think we can pick and choose what we want to believe in God's Word. You either believe and accept the entire Word as truth or you don't. Ye of little faith and much pride. Who are you to pick God's Word apart? Read in Revelation where Jesus warns us not to add or subtract from the Word of God. I think ya need to stop pickin His Word apart and start believin the whole truth. Otherwise, don't bother calling yourself a true christian. The entire Word fits me, thanks. So, what are ya gonna say to the Lord when you're judged? "Hey God, I agree on this part of your Word, it fit me well, but that part God, I didn't like, it just didn't suit me. Guess you were wrong on that one Lord"

I guess a tough verse, but a nec. one is..He who loves me does all my commands..All means all and I'm not saying I'm perfect but the Bible makes the most sense of all what I have tried in this world. DOn't have it right here but since you have the Rom. chap one I would guess you do't like the homo verses?? I don't like the "if you look at a woman to lust you have already done it',but a just judge IS coming back to judge so I pray for grace daily to live in "newness of life"in this obscene world.

I believe in the bible in it's entirety. Only a fool calls others a fool, in other words it takes one to know one. You give no facts, you only make a statement and call it a fact but that doesn't necessarily make it fact. You can refute nothing. You are arrogant and do not know God.

God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. I get it already, you consider me a fool, no need to belabor the point. But I would rather be God's fool than appear wise in your narrow vision.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.

Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

I don't pick and choose any of it. I did read that Christ said we were to love one another, and I try to follow that - it was the only statement in the Bible that made any sense to me.
