All the children songs and nursery rhymes are great choices for babies. What i liked most are classical tunes because they say that classical melodies help enhance the brain. it' also has a calm relaxing sensation to it. During your rest or naps ( becasue most moms 2 be need extra relaxation time) So listen to classical tunes - around the 3rd trimester your baby can actually hear the sounds outside. Theres a few good CD.

Enfamil - the baby formula - has a sampler disc called: SMART SYMPHONIES: classical music to help stimulate your baby's brain development. Grammy award winning recording & artists. Includes pieces by Gabrieli, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Rimsky Korsakov, Copland, Grieg, Schubert, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky and Bizet.
Classical music helps stimulate your baby's brain development.
Studies suggest that the complex rhythms and melodies of classical music may help stimulate brain activities associated with the development of spatial-temporal reasoning, which plays a major role in such activities as language, math, and science skills.

You can sing or hum all the Good old favorites...
(my favorites are)
If your Happy and you know it.. clap your hands
Twinkle twinkle little star
Rocka bye baby
ABC Song
Head should Knees and toes
My Sunshine
Itsy bitsy spider
Lullaby and goodnight
and many more.

No matter what the song is... your baby will LOVE to hear your voice.

Also try reading simple stories to babies - even before they understand. It's a produces better verbal and communication development.

CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK!!!

I have sung "You Are My Sunshine" to my daughter almost every night since she was a newborn.

I also sing to my kids quite often:

The ABC's
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
I'm a Little Teapot
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Hush Little Baby ("Hush little baby don't say a word...Daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird....", etc.)
Rock-a-bye Baby

You could buy a CD with nursery rhymes on it to practice before baby comes... and baby will enjoy it once born! :)

All the best!

Check WalMart for childrens CDs. We bought one for ourselves because we
loved the kids songs. They are called Silly Songs. There should be some for
babies. Give it a try. Good luck. Little ones get such a kick out of those things.

My kids love Rock-a-bye baby but I changed the lyrics because I didn't like the baby falling at the end

Rock-a-bye baby on the tree top
when the wind blows
the cradle will rock,
when the bough breaks
the cradle will fall
and mama will catch baby
cradle and all.

Twinkle Twinkle littlr star, hush little baby, you are my sunshine, itsy bitsy spider, b-i-n-g-o, the barney song, head sholder knees and toes, even if you do not know the words to the songs just make up your own words, or even make up your own songs, your little one does not know the difference he /she only hears mommys voice. when baby gets older then know the words so baby can sing with you. One more i just remembered the wheels on the bus go round and round.

My childs favorite song:
Hi diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed
To see such a sight
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
I'm not sure if thats really a song or just a rhyme but we sang it to her.
