Which of the foods above or other 'dry' kibble food. NOT birds, lizards, and mice.

I feed Innova and my cats do very well on it. I haven't tried the others you've mentioned, but I know others have had a lot of success with them.

I think when you get into the realm of high quality natural foods, you really can't go wrong with any of them. The best really is just what your cats prefer.

I've only fed my Himalayan Wellness and Innova. He definitely liked the Wellness better but he is a little on the er, uh, roly poly side and they don't make a lite formula. He doesn't like the Innova as much but is hair is less tangly and he isn't gaining weight. He's almost 12 and has had no (knock on wood) major health issues ever. I must admit though I am guilty of feeding him human treats because he only lives once and I figure he might as well get some enjoyment out of his life!

To the lady that said "Meowmix" I suggest switching to a better food for like 2 days and you will notice the smell of his poo doesn't smell 1/100th as bad and his coat will be way softer. If you can feed your animal for under $10/month think about the great quality you are getting.... chicken beaks, claws, ground up road kill.... stuff that is really nasty, your cat is lucky he is still alive.

I like Wellness. It doesn't have any unatural preservatives but uses vitimin E and citric acid to that end. The company only uses ingredients that are fit for human consumption.

I do use Chicken Soup For The Cat Lover's Soul if I run out of dry food (it had the best meat to grain ratio compared to others I looked at, I still prefer Wellness) and my pet store doesn't have any more Wellness. I special order cases of the canned food (which is their primary diet) so they don't run out of that.

I've done a lot of research on the foods you've mentioned (except California Natural) as well as homemade BARF diets. With any of them, I think, you can't go wrong. The differences between them seem to be more a matter of preference. Once you get into the super premium brands, like these (as opposed to even Purina 1 vs. regular Purina), the manufacturers are actually trying to give your cat a healthy diet w/out by-products, fillers, and nasty chemicals.

See www.onlynaturalpet.com this is a good site did a google search "natural cat food" and skimming over it decided i want to reference back to it for it details the necessary ingredients/food stuff thats needed for optimal Cat and Dog health-using only natural products. To be the safes in what we feed our pets is to make our own food-for no food processed elsewhere is totally safe as this trai incident shows us. Cats are mainly Carniverous so their diet is mostly Meat, preferably chicken, turkey and the other meats.I would use only organic to avoid feeding my cat all the antibiotics and growth hormones that go into all other animals processed for food-add some vegetable stock-also organic sor cats actually do not Need Vegetables but just to get the benefit of some of the vitamins/minerals in them, add some Fish oil(from a Fish Oil Supplement ) and a MultiVitamin/Mineral Daily Supplement geared for cats. Would avoid feeding a lot of red meat due to the fat content -even has hidden fat content -not obviously seen in the meat but since a younger cat esp kitten needs some fat the chicken skin or would boil some chicken and skim the fat put in a glass jar and refrigerate some for use -to add to food 2-3 times a week(1xs a week to older cats) and freeze majority Since its impractical to prepare this meal once or twice daily can prepare once monthly and then freeze in daily individual portions. If this route is taken then daily or 1xweekly dental care needs to be done-can get spray that dissolves plague from Vet. ____www.petfooddirect.com lists some of the natural foodsproducts that you mention as does www.naturapet.com -same search google undr natural pet foods will also bring up marketed natural pet foods. But since these are all processd in plants as are the foods listed that are causing the pet deaths etc the same dangers exist for since the rat poison found in these foods is Outlawed in the US it stands to reason that it was Added in the processing for no other explanation is plausible-my opinion someone either mad at the company or someone intending to cause this scare of the foods made by this Company(Greed)so would not be bought by the consumer.Am gld I've only fed my cat dry Nutro Total Care with some cut up white chicken as a occasional treat-she is now 17 but was told last recent checkup-teeth in great shape and the health of a 6yr old.Have never ,since educated about the ingredients in pet foods many yrs ago-given my pets any foods containing BYProducts-ground up junk parts of the animal with very little to no real meat.

I have 5 cats and they all like Nutro's cat food formula the best. They used to have a hard time digesting the Royal Canin as they grew older but as kittens, they loved the stuff because the kibble was small enough to fit in their mouths. Nutro has decent size kibble, all the ingredients listed actually sound like ingredients humans would eat (i.e. the main ingredient is chicken and not chicken by-products which could be anything really), and the formula ranges from kittens to elderly cats. Hope you find the best cat food for your pets!

One of our cat's used to eat Innova. She liked that one- it's not very crunchy though so if your cat has a preference for crunch it won't go over well. Wellness canned food is good, but their dry food uses alot of 'meal' products- it's fairly deceptive. I'd go into detail, but it'd be a long ramble. "Chickenmeal' is the 2nd ingredient, there is no pure meat after the deboned chicken. Like I said, I feel it's deceptive.
I used wysong products now, they've got excellent holistic cat food. We use the wet, dry and treats

I feed my cats and dog Natural Balance which was created by Dick Van Patton. I also hear that Flint River is one of THE BEST out there though.

I would recommend Castor and Pollux, Natural Balance, or Innova Eva for your kitty. High-quality ingredients, no junk, and these companies actually make their own products!!

Make sure and feed a dry kibble, as so many issues can arise with wet foods, and dry foods are much better for kitty's teeth anyways.

After trying several of the premium/natural brands, my cats and I settled on Nutro. They love it, and it does wonders for their coats, attitudes, and energy levels.

We've tried both Nutro Max and Nutro Natural Choice dry foods, and they love them both.

I have had foster cats who liked the Nutro wet foods, but my two cats don't care for it...which is fine. They get plenty of nutrition from the dry food.

While we were in the process of moving, and I couldn't get to the pet store, I grabbed a bag of Purina at the grocery store. I swear the difference was amazing. My Fenris looked as though he was wearing his fur coat inside out. Gizmo, who's fur is usually sleek and soft, felt like he'd been neglected for years. As soon as we got moved, I bought Nutro again, and I will never make the mistake of trying the stuff I can buy in the grocery store again!

If you can get it in your area, I really like Solid Gold's Katzenflocken. It's a dry kibble (or in cans) and originally from Germany. It's made with menhaden fish meal, lamb meal, millet, brown rice, beneficial oils from flax and other good things. It contains no corn or wheat gluten, which are common causes of allergies. (Of course, it's possible to get allergies from anything eaten too often.) It also contains blueberries as a preventative against feline uninary tract problems. (The company also produces a product called "Berry Balance" that is made with cranberries and blueberries to sprinkle over the food to help with feline urinary tract problems.)

Here's the ingredient list:

Don't buy anything with milk in it. Most cats can't digest cow's milk. Many show few symptoms, but gas and diarrhea are possibilities. Innova is one brand that contains milk, as I recall.
