when i was little 3 flying roaches came out of my fireplace and started flying around me (basically, round the dining room) and i was really scared, one of em even crashed on me, and then i ran to my room and i felt roaches all over my legs, and i was basically feeling like i was dying or something and my dad had to slap me hard 3 times to get out of it, i guess thats why i have the phobia, but i cant do anytihng about it

Ivan, I feel your pain!! I just moved to Hawaii 6 months ago and never thought there would be 2-3 inch cockroaches all over the place! I have found them everywhere.... I even got into bed one night and found one snuggled in my sheets >-< Needless to say, I didn't sleep for a week!!!! A friend of mine woke up and found one in her hair last week, and the last one I found was 3.5 inches long. I am seriously afraid of them... to the point at which I can't even pick them up after I've Raid-ed them to death.... not even with a ten foot pole! Since I have lived here for awhile, I accepted the fact that although my apartment is scrubbed spotless by yours truly on a daily basis, those big guys are still going to come poking around looking for food...... what I did was : moved up to the 27th floor (believe it or not there are still roaches up here! ) , put out some roach motels (I actually saw one crawl over the motel once, but it worked other times), sprayed raid around the back of my sink near the pipes, keep a screen in each drain (because they can swim :x ) and I put 100% boric acid down near the corners of my front door and around my refrigerator...... seems to have worked so far!!! Paranoid .....yes.......losing sleep over cockroaches......no.......

ps. cockroaches most certainly fly in Hawaii and I think those are the scariest kind...

I don't like them either, if I saw one today, I'd be moved out by tonight.... If you see one, he's got a whole extended family somewhere close.....

Stock up on anti-roach stuff for now and leave it around the house (if you have kids or pets read the labels)

If you actually see one, call the orkin man.

Be brave. (And as for the flying ones, youre on your own! I don't think we have those in MI)

Well Ivan let me tell you. You would've died from a heart attack at this one apt i used to live at lol.....You know what helps get rid of them if you have a roach problem..... combat gel....... anyways... it isn't thatridiclouse but yes it is a bit odd..... but it's ok... just remember they're icky gross little sickos who don't deserve to live and absloutely need to be squashed!.... you're like 1,000,000,000 x the size of an average roach..... that's why they're too chicken and just want to hide instead of attack you face to face!

You could move to the higher elevations, like Colorado and Wyoming where we don't have cockroaches.

Hey Ivan. Even i was scared of cockroaches. But i thought to myself: "what can a cockroach do to me". well its only a creature with legs. it cant do anything to me. so there is no reason to be scared

Call an exterminator and rid your abode of those pesky night crawlers... then you won't have anything left to fear !
