The iTunes Store is ONE way to get songs into iTunes. Any .mp3 file you have on your computer though can be put into iTunes. If you make iTunes your default Music Player or right click an .mp3 file in your Music folder and choose Open With..iTunes, iTunes will open and begin to play that song. Now it's in your iTunes Music Library! Or if you have songs on CD that you want in iTunes, from iTunes, you import the CD and now it's in your Music Library.

If you buy the songs from Itunes, it will automatically be imported in your Library. However, you do not have to import songs by purchasing songs from Itunes... If you have a Disc of songs, simply import the songs from the CD to your Itunes Library.

NoteL I strongly recommend using Windows Media player 11 to purchase songs and Video. You get a better quality mucis file and music video from Windows than those from Itunes. I am well experienced with this issue.
