When I was in college another student had the ability to gently grip your shoulders and muscle tension in your neck and shoulders would release after about 10-20 seconds. Any idea how to do it and what it is called.

was your friend in college an exchange student from the planet Vulcan? =o)~~

Massage therapists and physical therapists use techniques called "trigger point therapy" which are similar to what you describe. You could call a local therapist and see if they use that technique, and then have them treat you.

Good luck!
