the story of job... my bad... it's still pretty messed up... why didn't god stop this though? was he more interested in job proving his devotion to Him than to let the man's family live?

For Abraham it was a test of his devotion to GOD, and GOD stopped him before any harm came to his son. About Job, that never happened, so get your facts straight and don't mis-characterize GOD, that's not right.

Ancient stories about faith ... not killing. Abraham was told to sacrifice his son but the story tells us God stopped him when he knew that Abe was faithful. Job was not asked to kill anyone but his family was taken from him in a test of his faith in God.

he wanted to see if they were faithful to him. one should do God's will no matter what he asks, he should be the number 1 priority. and they did not actually commit the murder, god stopped the moment he was about to strike his son because he showed his faithfulness. thats what people dont understand.

wasn't at least one of those just a test to see if he would do it. I answered the last one too.

If you really want this question answered, read "Fear and Trembling" by Soren Kierkegaard.
