You are either born with perfect pitch or you're not. It;s a physical thing - it has to do with the amount and length of hairs in your inner ears, etc.....Basically, you can never achieve the physical phenomenon that is "perfect pitch" if you are not born with it...However, with practice in singing or playing a musical instrument, you can achieve what is called relative pitch...meaning that you can have a really good sense of pitch, but it will never be "perfect pitch" where you can name any random note out of the blue and get it right every single time, etc....

You can't just try it. Some people can train to attain very good relative pitch, very few are blessed with perfect pitch. If it's not a gift that you're born with you can't try it, but you can practice your ear training and dictation to attain very good relative pitch, which in some ways is even more useful.

You can't try perfect pitch, you have to be born with it. But you can perfect your pitch by listening to a lot of classical music, playing piano or another instrument, etc.
