I used to get a migraine every 2 weeks and they always lasted 3 days....days spent in bed, in the dark in total quiet. I tried many preventative prescriptions but suffered terrible side effects. Imitrix didn't touch my migraine...not even the self-injectable. My neurologist recommended an over-the-counter cocktail of three products. I had NO migraines for almost 2 years! Now I get them maybe only 2 or 3 times a year...usually after being exposed to a strong smell or not getting enough sleep. What is even better is, now when I do get them, a tiny Relpax pill as needed gets rid of the symptoms so that I don't spend three days suffering! Since it was a cocktail ordered by my neurologist, I will not post it here. However, if you want it and unblock your contact link, I will gladly email it to you (I will have to unblock mine as well).

I switched from Imitrex to Relpax... it works much better for me. I had the tightness in my throat with the Imitrex, and my heart would palpitate.
My doctor wanted me to try taking Trazadone everyday for them. I only tried it for about a week. It has helped a lot of people.
I have found that my diet has nothing to do with it, but barametric pressure does! If we are going to get a storm and the pressure rises or falls quickly, I'm sure to get a migraine.

Got a niece and nephew who have migraines. They would like to get rid of them also but no luck so far. My nephew is able to get them stopped by taking a product called "stand-back" as soon as he realizes he has one coming on.
Stand-back is a high dose of aspirin that is in powder form so it hits quick.
In the past, he has over dosed on pain killer, got out the gun and figured it couldn't hurt worse that his head...I mean, he had migraines big time often lasting several days.
His sister, my niece, has as much pain, but usually only a day or two at a time. She doesn't seem to have as much warning as he does, so she cannot take it quick enough to stop it before it gets out of hand.
Hope this or someone has the answer you need. Knowing how bad it must be, you do need relief.
Best of luck to you.

I ALSO SUFFER FROM MIGRAINES ACCOMPANIED BY NAUSEA AND SENSITIVITY TO LIGHT AND SOUND. I TRIED IMITREX BUT IT ONLY MADE MY MIGRAINES AND NAUSEA WORSE. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THE ONLY THINGS THAT WORK FOR ME ARE TAKING MOTRIN 800MG,APPLYING A WARM COMPRESS TO MY HEAD OR GETTING A FOOT MASSAGE. MY MIGRAINES DISAPPEAR ONLY FOR A FEW HOURS BUT A FEW HOURS IS BETTER THAN NOTHING BECAUSE I AM A NON FUNCTIONAL MIGRAINE SUFFERER. I BELIEVE EATING TOO MUCH SUGAR AGGRAVATES MY MIGRAINES, I CUT DOWN ON MY SUGAR INTAKE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND HAVENT EXPERIENCED A MIGRAINE SINCE. GOOD LUCK I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
