Your funeral director will have a list of providers and will advise you based on his past experiences.

Hi there,
First , please. let me say that I truly empathize with you. Three years ago this April, my father passed away after a very short but extremely agonizing FIGHT with cancer, so I kind of know what your feeling right now. But getting back to the question, you might want to try asking the caretaker at the cemetery, or at the funeral home. Most often both are very help-full. Also, if you could be connected with a hospice nurse somehow, I think that they would have much of experience dealing with things like that and would know what type of reputation certain places have had or not had with the families of patients they have had in the past.

I'm very sorry about your mother.

To answer your question, ultimately, it's all money.

This sounds somewhat morbid, but it's something you might want to think about. Some places will push for possibly unnecessary services such as enbalming prior to a funeral. Make sure that your provider knows that you only want legally required preparations. If they say something is required, get them to put that on the invoice.
