Biking is a great way to not only lose weight but to get toned (sometimes weight isn't a great way of evaluating health). But do not expect immediate results and let yourself give up. Most people fail at losing weight because they expect to see results right away and don't wait long enough. You should bike 1/2 to 1 hour a day, but start slow or you will get sore and have to take a few days off. I would highly suggest taking a nutrition class or even just getting a nutrition book (NOT A DIET BOOK- those are SCAMS). If you REALLY want to lose weight, you have to be patient and trust that if you stick with it you'll see results. Good luck.

If you'll actually DO the bike, yes, it's a good way to lose weight. Start with 20 minutes a few times per week, and work up from there.

Hi, I have been thinking about purchasing a bicycle to lose weight also... and have asked around I have recieved feedback stating that it does target your butt and inner and outter thighs... Yes any form of exercise is going to help not harm you, but if you ride the bike and then eat tons of junk food you are not going to see any results. I would say that you will definatley lose weight if you stick to a good diet and ride your bike. It is a good form of cardio which is very beneficial.. Good Luck!!

No one exercise will do it. I bike in the summertime about 10 to 14 miles a day I lost no weight doing this. But when I switched from beer to vodka I lost 20lbs. not that you’re a drinker but definitely watch your intake of food and beverage. Pull a Gerrid and go to subway.

Yes. Start slowly so that you don't get too saddle sore, but if you can do 10 miles or so a day once you get accustomed to it, you will see the weight drop off.
