Most glow in the dark substances do not contain any radioactive materials. The one that do are tested so that they emit very little radiation which is far less than you get just by sitting in front of a monitor or tv.

You do absorb the radiation though, and if you work in fields where you have other exposure it can add to it, if you have one that does contain radioactive material.

If you are worried call a nearby school and see if the have a geiger counter or similar device and have it scanned.

There have been cases where some watches had overly radioactive substances put into them.

In general though most glowing stuff is based on phosphorus or related compounds that are phosphorescent.

It wouldn't be safe to make so many kids toys that glow in the dark otherwise.

They should be safe to use without irritation, unless they are latex and you or your partner have a latex allergy. By "not to be used as a contraceptive" they only mean that they won't guarantee thet it will prevent pregnancy. basically, the company is just covering their *** so you won't sue them if you get pregnant. Bar in mind that no condom is guaranteed 100% effective and you should use a back-up method such as sprmicidal foam along with the condom.
