My daughter (6) and I love to read the American Girl series together. My son (7) loves Goosebumps and Nate The Great. My other daughter (1 1/2) loves Counting Kisses (super cute board book). Some all time favorites are Brown Bear Brown Bear, The Magic Hat, If You Give a Mouse A Cookie, Curious George.

My son is an avid reader now (at 8 he always has his nose in a book if he is not playing outside or taking care of his chores or homework) but before he was reading that much on his own, he loved to read "Where The Wild Things Are" and we still enjoy reading the poetry of Shel Silverstein together (Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Giving Tree, Runny Babbit etc.)

My son's in kindergarten and he likes:
A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon (really likes the illustrations)
Bullfrog Pops By Rick Walton (just because it's silly)
The Bearenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree
and any of the Curious George books.
