The big thing is: you have nothing to gain by the options you present. The acceptance you seek is already inside yourself, and your best pursuit is finding a way to harness it.

At 24 you may feel that you have nothing to lose, but as young as you are you have everything to gain. That's not really the way to get yourself out of a slump either. I gave up a house and 2 jobs when I was younger for nothing more than a dream. Found out because it took an extra day to settle on my house my dream was given to someone else. I ended up getting kicked out of a house with relatives and spending 21 months on the streets. I stuck to it and had faith in myself and the lord above. It's now 16 years later and I have 175000 house , 4 vehicles (all paid for), A supportive wife, and 3 children (2 thru marriage and one I participated in). The only reason I have it is, because I refused to let life beat me down and keep me down. It takes some self perserverance but you can do it. I guess the short answer to your question is, NO , it would help and probably will hurt your situation.

No! of course you shouldnt that would be crazy! I dont know your full story but if you quit smoking that's good, and just because your down you could eventually get back up. If you need a job go anywhere if you need money that bad then you shouldnt worry about where you work that's just stupid. Go apply at walmart or kroger or target. If you need friends get involved in the community(i know it sounds stupid but it just might work like you said what do you have to lose) and girlfriends arent all that great and im a girl so trust me on this were pains in the *** and do no good you'll find a girl but first worry about getting a job and getting back on your feet.

Good-luck!!

If you've been out of work for 16 months you can't afford to drink or smoke. Why would you want to? Why aren't you working? There's no excuse for someone your age not to be working unless it's health related and if it was, you wouldn't want to be smoking. Don't start drinking or smoking. Better yet, start walking. You know, pound the pavement and look for a job.

I'd say no, on the smoking, anyway. Smoking stinks, makes you stink (even when you're not doing it), costs too much, and is lightly poisonous (so that it makes sure you die slowly and painfully).

Drinking can be bad, too, but smoking's both dumb and disgusting.

Plus, it greatly lowers your chances with many prospective g/f's.

To start smoking and drinking would be the last thing to do.
I've been smoking for 17 years and want to quit. Drinking is very destuctive and I have see it first hand. Please don't start those bad habits. You will reget them. I do. your still young. So don't start.

Sounds like you're giving up.

Do something else - find another job, try new sports, socialize!
