There's one person in particular I want to meet and I think she has a bf, but I d/k how to approach her

Just go up to her like every time you see her and say like hey or nice shoes and walk away and repeat. when you get the courage to stay longer and talk then go ahead and try to spark a little conversation. if she is in one of your classes then ask her bout that homework in that subject. and the spark comes when you say "You know... I never really got that subject."
If she aint that type of girl that will talk to anyone then you got a little problem. But , just keep saying hey or complimenting her. Hopefully she will come around.

show her that you have the same interests (sports, clubs, or groups of friends)

randomly talk to people. thats what i do. if you happen to see her, just talk to her. everyone enjoys making new friends.
