Yes, she could have rodent disease, I can't think of the correct name of it at the moment, something like rat bite disease... it's a bacterial infection, it doesn't necessarily mean a rat bit her (it's just a name) but it can spread causing ulceration in her mouth, nasal passage and eventually her digestive and respiratory tract, it's hard to treat if left unattended.

If in doubt, a vet visit is always warranted.

Yes, you should. A picture would be helpful, but you saying that she's lost the skin on the tip of her nose has me a little concerned, given that she's an older outdoor cat. It may well be just a wee scratch or graze (obviously can't tell without seeing it for myself!), but it would be a good idea to have your vet rule out squamous cell carcinoma (skin cancer), especially if it just a small spot that scabs, bleeds, scabs again, etc. What colour is she by the way?

My personal opinion on the matter is this:

Do you know whats happening to your cat? Do you care?

If you dont know whats going on and you care greatly about your cat, then a call to the vet couldnt hurt, could it? Sure it costs money, but were talking about the pet of the house. If you do NOT get an answer that EXACTLY describes whats going on with your cat, then maybe the piece of mind of a vet telling you would help you sleep at night. For a lot of people, cats come and go. For the rest of us, its when they go that hurts the most.

At this point, I would just keep an eye on it. You could try putting some triple antibiotic cream on it, just to be on the safe side. I do that sometimes for bumps and booboos my cats get. If it starts getting red, inflammed, or otherwise looks infected, you should take her to the vet.

You might want to consider keeping her in at night from now on, though. There are too many dangers that they can be exposed to - too many wild animals that are nocturnal. If she is really attached to the outside, try and do it during the day only.

being an outdoor cat, it is hard to say exactly what might be going on.. anything from a cat fight to a scrape could be the problem. If it is irritated enough to be bleeding then taking her to the vet isnt a bad idea..if it becomes infected you will have another problem on your hands, so antibiotics may be needed. Good luck!

I brought wild kittens into the house to keep them alive and my older cat had the tip of her nose fall off. To me it just looked like she had been in a fight, but I took her to the vet anyway. She ended up getting some for of herpies disease from the kittens and had to be treated with antibiotics. It can be very serious. Please talk to a vet.

Please take her to the vet. While it could be something very simple, even simple problems like scrapes or abscesses can become more complicated without treatment. There is also a chance it could be more serious, such as skin cancer (melanoma), especially since she has been an outdoor kitty. Please get her checked out.

She might have been in a fight with another cat. It wouldn't hurt to take her to the vet since you have seen blood.
