yes....they probablly need some time to astablish an order of who is boss...once that is done they should calm down...my sister had a cat that hated other cats...they brought home a new kitten (cause the kitten was going to be put to sleep and my sister couldn't let them do that)...there was some fights at first and then an order was astablished....even though they never got along they didn't fight either...they just did there own thing...they could be in the same room but not next to eachother....

Yeah this just happened to me. Extremely normal. Don't worry about it. You're doing all the steps right. Might want to try grooming the Jinks and then grooming Sands with the same brush and then putting the screen door in between them again. If it doesn't work, don't worry about it. Chances are that they'll be friends in about a week. Don't keep them separated. No, I don't mean thrusting them together, but if you usually keep one cat in a locked room, open the door and let the cats get used to each other.

You might want to feed Jinks near the room Sands is in, right near the door. He might put together that Sands' smell + food=good. All cats do this. They are very territorial. If nothing else works, try rubbing Sands' face with a cloth and then rubbing Jinks' face with it and vice versa. Is it just Jinks doing the hissing? Also, you might want to try a drop of the same perfume on both of their heads. That way they smell the same. I hope I helped. Good luck!

Yes, that is totally normal. When cats are not only getting used to a new envirnment, but a new "friend", it can take some time. Also, Jinks is probably feeling threatened. There is an intruder in his home and he's defending it. Giving Jinks some preferrable treatment (i.e. treats/extra play time/extra attention) for a while would help ease his insecurites. Good luck!

Oh yes, this is normal. Had it happen with 2 cats that were litter mates and i got out for a few hours. It took several days to warm up. I have read that it will work quicker if you put some perfume on them so they smell alike. Our second time around with this we shut them in a bathroom together, litter in the bathtub. The female kept the male sitting on the toilet seat. We would bring them out to the food bowl once a day and put them back if they fought. It took about 3 days for them to get hungry enough to make peace.

Well i have tons of experience with cats...i have one thats 17 years old, one thats 14 years old and one is only a year old. They wont hurt each other if you put them together. My cats just barely started getting used to each other a few months ago. It took months and months for them to be able to stay closer to each other. But the best thing to do is give lots of attention to the older ones. They seem to get sad and lonely if you give too much attention to the little one. I hope it helps...dont worry and dont give up. Oh and one more thing....maybe have 2 litter boxes for a few months. Sometimes the older ones will pee on the carpet because they dont want to use the same litter box. it's weird i know.

yes, very normal. It may take several weeks before the cats get comfortable together.. just give them their space and they will eventually make nice. Dont separate them now that you are passed the first day, let them learn that they will have to live in the same house together. Dont throw in the towel yet, 4 days is still very little time for a cat!!

This is absolutely normal. We went through it too even though the cats were half siblings of different litters. Our male even ended up allowing her to "nurse" on him for a year. Most of the time now they cuddle with each other but if he gets mad at us--he goes to beat her up.

Yes it is.The new one wants to create a territory and the old one is trying to keep his old territory which is threatened by a new one.If both are male they will fight a lot at first but then it will be ok the same if it is female and female.Try to put them together when someone is watching after them. They will fight at first don't let them get hurt just show them who is boss.

Very normal, time, patience, love, and attention are the key ingredients, they may not be the best of friends but eventually they will tolerate each other.

Make sure you give equal love and attention to all the cats.
