Perception of stuffed animals?

Question

What is your or people's perception of stuffed animals?
Already know that people associate stuffed animals with children.

I don't see the harm in having them, especially for children. Even the police will give a stuffed animal to a child who is in distress from being lost, seeing a traumatic event, after being in an accident, or being a victim themselves. Counselors use it to help children open up. They'll "talk" to a stuffed animal when they won't to an adult.

They can also be a safety valve for adults. Young women have them in college to remind them of home. They may take some with them to marriage to keep for their kids or out of sentimentality. It certainly looks better than cuddling up with a "blankey", don't you think so?

As long as they're kept clean and in relatively good shape, I don't know why people shouldn't have them. Saying that, however, doesn't mean I want to see everyone walking down the street holding one. They have their place in this world.

Look at this way: some of the politicians we have/have had are stuffed clowns and people still voted for them.

I think they are blanket gift people give when they don't know what else to give. Valentine's Day? Give a bear. Birthday? Bear time. Stuffed animals can be adorable, especially for children, but it is slightly disturbing to see adults with multiple animals as decoration.

well, i have a stuffed animal that i sleep with, but it is only there to act as a small pillow to rest my arm on... not as a security device. however some people need them as a security device... and some simply like to give them to friends, family, or children as an item of comfort... it is kind of like giving a permenant hug to someone for times when they may be feeling lonely. my husband got me my stuffed animal the day before he was supposed to deploy to cuba, in case i got lonely at night.... thankfully the deployment was cancelled! however, i still have the bear as a reminder of his care and thoughtfulness :o) it was one of the best gifts i'd ever recieved! :o)

There was an episode of Law & Order that dealt with adults dressed in costumes like furry stuffed animals, and having orgies at gatherings they called it some funny name, but it amounted to very safe sex! So Im kinda tainted.

They are cute and cuddly.
I have a couple of special ones from my childhood still (I'm 39 years old). I collect small Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals.

I am a grandmother and of course I love them. When my little grandson goes somewhere(zoos, carnivals, etc.), he always gets me a stuffed animal. How could I not like them?

I think no matter what age you are...the teddy bear will never get old. Heck, they have build-a-bear...and those things are amazing!!...and they have that other bear thing too...the vermont teddy bear....

For adults we love them.
