I have two male and one female. The female won't go in the box unless i put her in. she goes in front of it instead, I'm at the end of my rope and I have no idea what to do.
YES I clean the box, and on a regular basis, NO I haven't switched the placement or the box, nor have I changed the litter brand.
HELP, I love her, and I can't put her outside, we live in TX and it's to hot and she has long hair.

Get another litterbox. As a rule, you should have 1 litter box per cat. We have three cats. when we got the youngest one, the oldest cat started peeing on our floors. We actually just give her her own space during the day (a very very large cage) and her own litterbox, and let her out at night. She is MUCH happier now to get away from the other cats and now goes in her box. But definitely try getting another litterbox

It's been said there should be a least one box per cat in the house. If they smell another cat in the box, they usually won't use it. Some cats will tolerate sharing, but not all.
They can also be territorial about their boxes and the other two could be keeping her from using it - hence why she doesn't like to get in it.
The boxes themselves should be scooped once, if not twice, a day. They should also be completely dumped, washed out, and new litter put in at least every two weeks.
She could also have medical issues. Some cats with UTI's won't use the box because the associate the pain of peeing with the box itself. Hence why cats with UTI's will start peeing in the oddest of places. You may want to call your vet if you've ruled out anything else keeping her from using the box.

I would recommend buying a second litter box. If too many cats go in one place, then one or more of them will USUALLY start going outside the litter box. Your female might not want to use the one you have because the boy cats produce stronger odors.

Give her a box of her own,try a different litter(some cats prefer a fine litter a coarse one, unscented to scented,)placement of the box is usually human convienence although it should afford some privacy for the cat.

When a cat has behavior problems, the only thing to do is put it out, that usually helps them wake up, sometimes cats just seemed messed up, and you cant fix it. You cant live with that nasty smell in your house, and if you can, I question your sanity. Animals are just that, animals. I love cats too, but shes ruining it for herself. She might not have these problems if you find her a home where she can be the only cat. I'm sorry but I refuse to live in a invironment like that, cats smell the worst, and if there are children around they dont deserve that.

maybe you could get another box that is just for her. like, put it in a different area of the house, away from the one she doesn't like. maybe she is telling you she doesn't want to get in it if the other cats use it too. i don't know. this is all i can think of to help you. good luck.

Put out another litterbox, the rule is if you have more than one cat, you should have that number of trays plus one extra! She doesn't like sharing, being in a house with all males, I don't blame her, I don't like sharing the toilet with them either! lol
