It's one thing to be persecuted for being religious, but for being who you are by your friends, that's not right. I could never make fun of friends because as much as they chose me, i also chose them. I would sit down and talk to them about how you feel, and if they truly were friends, let alone christians, they would stop.

I am LDS, we are Christians, but for some reason we get persecuted by other Christians who claim we are not Christian.

I have developed a thick skin, I just let it bounce off of me and go on. Sometimes, I think of a quick, funny come back, that catches people off guard.

If I was very sensitive, I would stop coming here because we get persecuted a lot here.

Do what the Lord says and you will be eternally rewarded. Pray for your enemies.
Keep the faith!

If you have too, make some new friends.

I was born and raised Catholic. However, when my wife and I got married, we were admonished by the priest who married us because we attended "watered down Catholic" churches our whole life. (for those of you who don't know, the Pope sets the rules, and one of Pope John Paul's rules was known as "the John 2 letters" or some such, but gave women permission to work the alter as an alter boy traditionally does, and not all churches follow this new directorate).

Anyhow, we still went ahead with the wedding at the cathedral, but had a different priest perform the ceremony.

We don't openly advertise to anyone not in our circle of friends that we don't attend Church or "practice" any more because we have been criticized and judged several times after we moved to Omaha for not attending a church.

I wouldn't call name-calling persecution. Whenever your "friends" say that though, just point them out to...... its either first or second peter 2:17 or there abouts... "Live as free men, but do not use your freedom for evil. Live as servants of God"

Also Jude 1:4 or so talks about people whose condemnation was written about long ago who have infiltrated the church and are trying to make the grace of God into a license for immorality, and deny Christ in doing so.

Hi from a fellow Christian and kitty lover :-)
I have been given a hard time many times. I don't curse either and people have given me a hard time about that before.
The situation that comes to mind right away was when I was 16. I was active in my youth group and since we live in TX, we frequently get together for pool parties in the summer. The other girls in the group wore really immodest swimsuits and I had seen an article in World magazine about how skimpy a lot of teen girls' swimsuits were and decided to bring the story to Sunday school one week.
Everyone started criticizing me and making me feel two inches tall. They said I was jealous and how stupid it all was, and that "our bodies are temples, let people worship them..." (Um, last time I checked, we worship God, not the temple... :P)
It really hurt because you don't expect your modesty to be attacked at CHURCH of all places.
So I know how you feel. DON'T listen to them when they persecute you.
God bless.

WOW have I been there. I got left behind on a camping trip by the whole stinking group because I wasn't acting all bad butt as they were. You are asked to be as much like the lord as possible. I have wondered myself why some do that but it's life I guess. Just be a perfect as you can and there will be less dout in your mind if you are living good enough. Something like that anyway.

you have to understand that the spirit of christ and antichrist working within the framework of the church are so close that it would deceive the very elect if it were possible but it isn't.( they are twins)
a majority of converts in the the world today are born by the spirit of antichrist which produces a carnal, cold, formal, hypocrate-hybrid christian that denys the power of God and persecutes the true spiritual brother born of christ.
we see this over and over again in the scriptures cain killed his brother able and both were very religious, joseph and his brethren. they were jealous of the true spiritual brother. esau and jacob, both were religious but esau persecuted his brother. jesus and judas- jesus sold jesus his spiritual brother. The anti-christ carnal christians of the holy roman empire killed the true spiritual brethren(68 million-foxes book of martyrs) in the dark ages. They will kill millions more in the great tribulation that won't bow down to their false doctrine and accept that false prophet pope as head of the church. the holy spirit is head of the church. check out these sights www.branham.org and www.leevayle.com

Is that really persecution? Is it done constantly to harass or injure you? Why do you let it bother you? I have been told I'm not a Christian because I won't pick a denomination. I would rather worship God, follow Jesus and read The Holy Bible. It does not make me feel persecuted. It strengthens my faith.

May God Bless you.

I am a Christian and Catholic. There are Christians who persecute Cathoics. So, yes I have been subject to such nonsense.

I think their problem is they are misguided...misinformed...and definitely not following the example of Christ.

Yes, many times!!

Don't fret the small stuff. My your line of questioning I would guess you are a teenager or young adult. That's the norm of your age group to put each other down.

Carry yourself as you are, in the long run of your life... those who call you names will see that YOU have come out the winner.
