I recently asked a coworker out. She told me she has a boyfriend and that we should be friends. I told her okay, fine, but if they break up I'm interested in dating her. Bit awkward at first, but we were okay in a few days. Then one day, my JACKASS of a coworker made some reference to us being in a relationship (which he knew nothing of, but he's the resident gossip...). Apparently, she got very upset with the way he phrased it. I wasn't there for any of it, I just heard it from the guy. Now I fear what'll happen the next time I see her. Should I try and dispel any misunderstandings? Or maybe trying too hard fix everything at once would just push her away even further, which would just break my heart since she is a really great person. Maybe I should just back off?

I think you should explain to her that you didn't have anything to do with what the JA coworker said. She may not want to even be friends with you if she thinks you have talked about her to others. Sometimes it is best to explain things so no misunderstandings will come up.

Well i think you should give it all some time. u asked her out, she has a boyfriend. the Jackass coworker says ur together wen ur not, shes humiliated. you shouldnt talk to her because no matter what u say, she'll think ur flirting w/ her. back off until her boyfriend leaves and then make a move. but give her some space cuz its gotta be really awquard now. good luck!

I dono, I really don't know. But I have to say I applaud you, because even though your interested your giving her her space to be in her relationship and not moving in and trying to steal her away. You are a wonderful for that. ^.^
