I say thanks.
I don't really care why they are being kind, I just appreciate the fact that they are.

I say, "Thank you," for they are only trying to be kind. In fact, I know many atheists who also say "Bless you" when someone sneezes. It strikes me as odd, but it isn't really hypocrisy, as it's a common courtesy that most people say reflexively, without giving it any thought. I personally do not say "Bless you" or anything else when someone sneezes. It's not that I'm adverse to courtesy; it's just that the practice is based on an old and silly superstition and should not be perpetuated. It serves no useful purpose.

Usually I hear them say "Gabless Sue", so I take it as something that is meant in an innocent and nice way. Why make an issue out of it?

The word atheists comes from preachers that could'nt convince people to attend their tax free church. Why should anyone say anything, especially when god is only a spirit. My guess is they really think your wierd because of something you said just because their nose smelled something different.

I graciously accept their sign of courtesy. I believe that everyone has the right to believe whatever they want, and I will not persecute anyone over their religious beliefs.

I say thanks. I'm not big on useless confrontation and such.
I even say bless you when people sneeze, because I dont know of any other way to say it.
Just common courtesy, no need to bring peoples beliefs into it.

thanks, for the most people, it's just a figure of speech that become second nature, they aren't trying to bless you because the devil might get in your nose when they phrased it a few hundred years ago

I say thanks because they are saying it out of kindness. just because I am an Atheist doesn't mean I can't appreciate kindness from a religous person. I'm not religous and I'm kind anyway.

I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO FORCE THEIR BELEIFS ON ME, THEREFORE WHEN I SNEEZE AND SOMEONE GOES:"BLESS YOU " I ASSUME IS JUST A MANNER OF SPEECH AND DON'T MAKE THEIR BELEIFS AN ISSUE 'CAUSE I TRY TO RESPECT THEM AS I WOULD LIKE THEM TO RESPECT ME
