In itunes, when I update my songs individualy ....by putting in the correct "Artist" and "Album" and "Title".....does it only correct it within itunes, or does it actually update the song info itself in my computer?

(so if I got rid of itunes for another program, will all my work be saved within the songs?)

It saves the info in what are known as ID3 tags, which most, if not all, media players can read.

EDIT: Apparently people like to answer out of their ***. That info is an ID3 Tag....it's METADATA that's attached to the file itself...embedded if you will. Windows itself can read it, just go right-click a song and go to properties, click on "summary" and choose "advanced" view. Wow, look at that, all your information. I wish people only answered questions they knew the answers to instead of blurting out BS.

it only corrects it within itunes.
if you switch itunes for another program, you will still have to add the song from you directory to your playlist, whereby the names (artist, album and title) will be back to the original unchanged.

Don't know but you could try burning a disk and opening it on another PC without iTunes, or playing it in a stereo that will read titles.
