Yes, this is tape worm. It is extremely rare for humans to catch tape worm, but it is possible. You need to go online or some pet stores carry Tradewind tape worm tabs. Or sometimes vet will prescribe but normally they will run you through exam fecal test office visit etc..... The Tradewind tabs will only kill Tapeworm and this is exactly what it sounds like.

The long worms like speghetti or string is round worm the rice or sesame seed like worm is Tape worm

yes this is a tapeworm. actually what you found is a segment of the worm and is filled with tapeworm eggs. they get tapeworms from swallowing an infected flea. So you need to get some kind of flea treatment to prevent tapeworm infection again. You can not get tapeworms from your cat. You will need to go to your vet and let them know that the cat has tapeworms and they will dispense droncit or drontal, which is a one time pill that will kill all tapeworms. The worming meds you get from the grocery store do not kill the adult tapeworm, they just control the amount of eggs, so getting the stronger meds from the vet is important. Good luck!

Where did he find it? If it is white, flat, and looks like a grain of rice, you can usually assume it's a tapeworm. They're generally not seen on the body, but if you do find them, they will be located on the kitty's bum. Tapeworms aren't contageous to people, but if you have any other cats, then you should be concerned about them getting tape as well. You can generally buy the tapeworm tabs at feed stores, as well as online (they are labeled only for cats and come 3 to a package). The kind you'll usually see are the tradewinds brand, but there is another brand called d-wormer that also should work. You'll want to get this taken care of ASAP, but if you want to order online I know of two good sites that carry these items: www.revivalanimal.com and www.drsfostersmith.com
Good luck

Tapeworms are very long and thin, and live in the intestines. What you found could be a bug from outside that got caught in the cat's fur. It would not hurt to take the cat to the vet for a checkup
