I'm not sure there's much for me to answer here more than what's been said, but let me tell you - Over the last 9 years, I have managed to take 100+ pounds off, which for me was huge. I was closing in on 300 pounds, and needed to lose the weight. I did it by watching what I ate, and doing a few diets, and modifying some to fit my needs. I had my own ways of telling myself not to snack, but I still ate. You still need to eat, but if you use the rubber-band on your wrist to remind you not to snack, that's one thing - just don't do it to stop eating entirely, and no, it's not weird.

When you get hungry you need to eat, but the rubber band idea is perfect for cravings! I've found that pinching the triangle shaped flesh between your ear and your head works well too because that is the craving center of the body.

I think that if you get hungry, you need to eat. What you're doing is creating the idea in your mind that being hungry and wanting to eat is something you need to punish yourself for, and that's not a good idea. If you feel physical hunger, you need food. Eating too little slows down you metabolism and can really damage your health.

being hungry doesn't always mean you need food. when we are dehydrated our body makes us feel like we are hungry. instead of snapping the rubberband, try going for a glass of water.

Actually, it's not really weird. I've heard of the rubber band trick before and it's quite effective for a number of things.

Yes, a bit weird. So you punish yourself for feeling hungry. I would think a bottle of water or some low cal. snacks (carrot sticks, celery) would be a lot better.

Thats not weird but it is bad for you. You have to eat when you're hungry and if your on a diet, eat low calorie and low carb foods. Don't starve yourself.

No, actually I have heard of that before but I don't think it would work for me. I would still eat and just have a sore wrist.

You need to eat something during the day. As long as you're eating what you need to eat and just using this aversion to control snacking all day, I see nothing wrong with it.
