They try the same thing with speeding, when we know it's nothing to do with the law and everything to do with revenue.

It's called the Separation of Powers. In the US, there are three branches of government (at all levels--federal, state and local). The three branches:

LEGISLATIVE: Makes the laws. These guys decide what laws are necessary and/or beneficial to society. This would be the US Congress, your State Representatives, and your City Council.

EXECUTIVE: Enforces the laws. They can act only within the strictures of the law as formulated the the legislative branch. This would be the US President (and all the federal law enforcement groups, such as the FBI), the State Governor (ditto the law enforcement groups, such as the State Police), and the City Mayor (ditto the law enforcement groups, such as the City Police).

JUDICIAL: Interprets the laws, to ensure that they are fair/reasonable/properly enforced. This would be the US Supreme Court and US Federal Courts, State Courts and Local Courts.

If you were too high in school to have absorbed any of this basic civics information, you've just had a quick lesson. When a cop tells you he doesn't write the laws he only enforces them, HE'S TELLING YOU THE TRUTH. And if you want to b*tch and moan about your own idiocy getting you arrested, TALK TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE, like the cop told you. Don't waste the cop's time; he's got better things to do.

And get a life.

First off, they are just enforcing the law. As an officer for many years, I arrested a number of people for marijuana possession....because that was my job regardless of what my personal feelings were on the subject. Why? Because that is the law.

My personal feelings? I think it should be legalized if heavily taxed and regulated much like alcohol (which in my opinion is a far worse drug).

They are not lying. They are enforcing the current laws. As for contacting your representatives, you have the right to voice your opinion, just as law officers have the right to voice their opinions. And, personally, I think the police would rather be busy enforcing other laws, than having to do all the arrests for drugs, however, drugs and the crime they cause for the want of them, is what keeps the police so busy.

The police enforce the laws that say possessing pot is "illeagle". The reason that it was made "illeagle" in the first place is that it impairs your ability to think and spell legibly.
Next time don't toke and type at the same time. You could be charged with TWI (typing while impaired).

Well if they did not arrest you for posesion there would be a problem but knowing about law you get your good cops and bad some will let you slide others won't. If you are arrested for somehting else besides this and you have pot they could be nice and say they never saw it or they can charge you with it .I deal with people everyday with this problem.

How does law enforcement profit from marijuana being illegal?
Change the laws and you won't get arrested for it....
Truer words were never spoken, you do something that isn't illegal, you won't have to worry about it....
Cops don't profit from it, they do what the job entails, enforcing the laws.. The only one lying here is you.

when cop says it is his job to enforce the law , he is telling you the truth, but, there is 2 sides to every thing , a cop is paid to do his job, lets just say they have a law to shoot any one who demonstrates against the system will the cop also follow his orders and shoot his fellow man , what if his wife or kids were involved with this demonstration? this is one of the dangers of having professional army, police etc who think their job is the most important thing in the world, laws are made supposedly for the benefit and protection of the people , but we all can attest to the fact that some laws are made simple to control the people ,and to acclimatise them for something that is coming later?I don't know the answer to this and I doubt any one really knows for sure, it could be we will be in slavery , or ??? as far as I am concerned a one world gov would be just as bad as slavery, and maybe worse.

law enforcement do not make the laws, they enforce them. they have no say over if pot is legal or anything else. all the can do is make sure that people are going by the laws that are set out for the public. your anger is misdirected.

Last time I checked, using pot was illegal. If you want the law changed you have to keep pushing to get it changed. Get your friends to call too. I don't use it because of medical problems, but I have no problems with those who want to use it.

police enforce the law, they don't make the policies. it's not that hard to figure out. and, you should talk to your representaives about getting the laws changed, what don't you understand? how do you think they are lying? they are being courteous. be glad for that instead of complaining.
