I've been communicating with this guy I met online. Call me old-fashioned, but his IM requests to "call me" really irritate me. Shouldn't he be the one doing the pursuing? I did call him once or twice, but the whole concept just kind of weirds me out.

This is my serious answer, even though maybe it will sound funny or sarcastic. I swear it is not, please think about what I am saying. If he is asking you to call him and you think that he should be pursuing you, then this relationship may not work out. You are not wrong to feel irritated, and you are entitled to your views. And so is he. I do not mean to suggest that either one of you is more "correct" in your views, but merely that if you differ to that extent, you may both be better off finding someone else, unless this is just a casual online chat pal or something.

maybe that is his way of pursuing, while trying not to be pushy, if he im's you to call him, the ball is in your court and if you call he will know that you really want to talk to him, where if he calls you, he may worry that you didn't want to go that route since you are only talking online right now and the phone is a little more personal

dump him girl, people you meet online that you don't know in person are just bad people. he could be an old man saying he's your age on the phone or online, this very dangerous. TRUST ME AND PROTECT YOURSELF

hm. same thing happened to me. i asked him why he does that to girls.
he said that if he called, the girl might not want to talk to him and itl just get awkward.
but if he says "call me" and the girl calls. that means she wants to talk to him, so it wont be so weird on the fone. and it wont seem like the guy is bugging her...

try it, actually call him from your phone. Dial *67 before dialing his number though, so if it gets freaky or wierd, then he wont even have your number!
