I didn't take my daughter to the doctor when she had it this fall, but if there is is a fever or anything else you should go, but only you can make that decision. Buy the homeopathic pink eye drops available at any drug store: Similasan Pink Eye Relief. The stuff is amazing!

It will go away on its on, but the eye drops relieve the itching and speeds up the healing.
Keep up good hand washing. It is very contagious and easily spreads to the other eye. My daughter got it from a friend at school.

Yes, you do unfortuneately. He needs an antibiotic eye ointment to truly clear up the infection. Its a bacterial infection.
And you are right, it is highly contagious - make sure you wash in hot water anything that comes close to his eyes (his pillow case, etc.). And if you do get the ointment, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after applying it, as its really easy to transfer to yourself. Good luck!

Yes please take your child to the doctors. You will get some antibiotic drops or cream to put in the eyes. Make sure when you apply the medicine that you apply it to both eyes. You also need t becareful that by treating your child you don't get pink eye yourself. Wash you and your childs hands often with lots of soap. Good luck.

Yes, google conjuctivitis (am I allowed to say that here??). Normally, doctors prescribe antibiotic drops. The sooner it is treated, the less likely it will become a problem.
