Yes it is named as Bishops palace! It is an irony. He is supposed to be the servant of the people. But to days priests, bishops and arch bishops all live in luxury, forgetting about the poor Christians who do not have a place to lay his head. Christ came to serve the poorest, lived among them and died for them but the so called followers of Christ lavishly live their lives. It is a contradiction and mockery of Christianity.

Pope has a very smple rom with a simple life style. Every thing else is for demostration and advertisements. Vatican is also considered like a museum where all the old documetns are collected. A place where Saint Paul started and build the first church, Vatican it is more a hisotrical place then any thing elseI do not know about some of those archibals but among all the religious leaders I think we are the best. Jsut look at imams, rabbis and other leaders even the one living in tibats such as monks. They enjoy their luxuries much more then Pope adn Archibals!I hae it when people just target christianity when they can be so blnd to other religiouses! They say catholic priests abuse kids but do they have any clu on ow many rabis, muslim leaders and other
religious leaders abuse their kids and it has never been recorded condamn or even mentioned by their own governments! How can you even consider your self better then a Pope like; Jean Paul Two?

Controversy alert........
At the risk of offending certain elements of society, and not wanting to do so, I would say that the Roman Catholic Church is just as open to corruption as is any other institution, religous or secular.

I find it disgusting that these people can live in palaces whilst there congregations, many in the poorest parts of the world, are starving. I'm sure Christ would be disgusted too. Hang on, the Roman Catholic Church wasn't founded by Christ was it? No, it was founded by the Emperor Constantine who suppressed a lot of bible teachings to give his own distorted view on the life of Christ.

I appreciate the 2 points but feel sadly I will be denounced as some sort of heretic. Thank god they don't have the inquisition anymore, or burn people as witches!

Do you really think that if the Pope and bishops lived in sheds that we'd rid the world of the poor?

In the Bible the pharisees ask the same question when the woman pours expensive perfumed oil over the feet of Jesus.

Catholic Charities gives so much to the poor...but at the same time we want the Pope and those who stand in the place of Christ to be housed in a manner that fits their position.

The Pope doesn't own where he lives. He is not personally rich. He is housed by the Church that calls him father and the leader of God's people. Certainly a position that deserves some honor.

Giving to the poor, as worthy as that is, is a bottomless pit. Even if everyone was to give up their personal living conditions in order to support the poor...it wouldn't be enough.

This is an interesting question and I appreciate it. It is true that the Holy Father along with Bishops (I'm not sure why you qualified Archbishops, they're the same as bishops) live in palaces. This is just what they are called. Mostly they are simple and humble abodes. The Church has many charitable activities, where prelates are among the most generous. Again, thanks for the question and I hope you can improve your punctuation.

The Pope lives in a small, modest apartment, and he owns nothing, not even the clothing he wears. And the Catholic Church, under his direction and guidance, provides far more services to the poor of the world than all other churches combined.

because the antichrist controls the wealth of the world so that no man can buy or sell unless they accept his mark or the # of his name.
rome has the gold but the jews control the paper or wall street but the antichrist(pope) enters into a covenant with the jew(monetary covenant-spoken of in daniel) but breaks it and gets control of all the commerce so he will be able to force his false doctrine on the whole world again as he did during the dark ages or you will starve to death or be killed if you don't

I don't see this as a religious question.

It seems to me that it's a "how-can-people-not-care-about- this-kind-of-stuff" inquiry.

Hmm....

I'd say they care, but they also can't do that much since they live up there, praised and respected and rich, *and* ignorant.

They do something about it, if they knew just how bad it was.

That's why I respect people who have been through rough times and come out to be famous, more.

Good question. How can any congregation invest in a nice brick building while people are starving in the world?
