My sister just got a huge skull and crossbones tattooed on her arm during spring break (she was intoxicated). She only wanted it to be about 1 inch X 1 inch, but the tattoo artist took some liberties and talked her into getting it MUCH bigger than that (about 6 inch X 4 inch).

Is there anything she can do to get ride of it?

Also that tattoo artist who was her friend said he was using some new "permanent" ink, does such a think even exist?

By "permanent," I mean he said that a laser couldn't remove the ink. I think he was just full of it, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone wanted to back him up.

As mentioned, all subcutaneously applied ink is permanent. The only real option is laser, and even then as I understand it it's obvious something was there after expensive, painful treatments.

If she was legally intoxicated, then she's an adult and any legal action will be tricky at best. Even then, I'm not aware of any laws that prohibit artists from doing inking of the intoxicated, for what that's worth. How would they test? Such things are expensive. They can turn away customers if they want, but that isn't the same thing.

If she wasn't legally intoxicated, then that is a whole other issue. I would also choose my friends more carefully in the future.

first off the only way to get rid of the tattoo is to either go to another tat parlor and see if it can be covered up with something else of have laser surgery to remove it all together. sounds like the artist that did it is not very good. just out for the money. the good tat parlors will not work on anyone that is high, pregent, or intoxicated. second , all tattoo ink is permant and can be removed by laser surgery. once again he is just blowing smoke.

Firstly, I understand your sister's predicament and I'm sorry she's got hersrelf into this mess.... I don't however see it as the fault of the tattooist. Whilst it is against the law to be under the influence, if your sister was old enough to come up with such a hair brain scheme then she is mostly to blame.... She could of stopped at any time but didn't. So the morning after is not so pretty, I'd tell her to start saving her money for laser treatment, and invest in some long sleeve shirts.... This should tie her over until it can be removed.....

ps: all ink is permanent....

Laser removal is the only way to get rid of tattoos.

Tell her to report the artist, no one should tattoo anyone who is intoxicated. And he/she sounds like a jerk, for taking her into getting a larger piece than she wanted. (the only time an artist should insist on larger is if the design is too intricate to be done at a smaller size)

Well, I've heard that if you rub the tattooed area with salt for hours without stopping, eventually the skin and the tattoo will come off. I really wouldn't recommend doing that, though. Tell her to go see a doctor about cosmetic surgery. Be warned, tattoo removal is painful and time-consuming.

That's just way sad. It's against the law
for someone to tattoo you if you are
under the influence of anything.
Please report this person.

I hope this will help.
There are also some

of a tattoo, or cover it.

Yeah, that was really smart.Gotta love the spring breakers. No, there is NO way to get rid of the tattoo other than now going to a tattoo removal specialist. Tattoos are generally a lifetime commitment, something that you want on your body forever. If i was her parent, though she was stupid, drunk or not, id be calling the tattoo parlor, and complaining to management to get the asshole fired, because if the girl was visibly intoxicated, he shouldnt have tattooed her in the first place.

Lasers...

Or using eau-de-cologne. It will only make it more vague, it won't dissolve it.

I would do something about the fact that the tattoo artist willingly made the tattoo when she was intoxicated AND that he didn't follow the measures her sister wanted. I would make sure nobody ever goes to that inresponsible person again.

She can have it covered up or removed. All ink in permanent unless it is pulled out of your skin. That is why most tattoo artist wont tattoo someone who is drunk, they never know what will happen and they bleed more because the alcohol thins out your blood. Sorry but she made a mistake, she should have to deal with it as an adult having made an adult decision.
