The vicar doesn't usually own the house, the parish and the church hierarchy (CofE for example) owns it. The intention is that the house is used for the work of the church, the community and somewhere for the vicar to live.

Most vicars use their house for church and community business, most will do all the paperwork and preparation for services in their study at home.

Many use their house for meetings and counselling or advice sessions, since many churches do not have suitable rooms for such things.

Many vicars frequently allow children's groups to use their garden, or other events such as firework displays.

The term vicar can mean multiple things. Perhaps you should qualify what you mean by vicar before asking this question. I cannot believe people can answer such a poor question. What is there to answer? You should also learn to capitalize the first word of a sentence.

Hmm, must be an overseas thing. My vicar here in the US lives in a very modest home in an unfashionable suburb. Most of the vicars I know, in fact, are living in decidedly less-than-fancy digs.
