To be a bit trite, maybe the prayer was answered for the other team. Prayer is a very personal thing between the person praying and his/her Lord. My belief is that asking for something like a team winning is fairly inappropriate. One thing that I have found is that you need to be very quiet, to listen with your heart, to hear that still, quiet voice telling you what you need to know. Give thanks for all the blessings you have in your life first, praise God for the greatness all around you, ask for forgiveness, tell Him what your needs and fears and hopes are, request in the name of Jesus. These are my beliefs. I can't imagine not having the comfort of knowing that even if I don't recognize answered prayers, they are answered. Sometimes the answer is simply "no".

To pray that your team wins, or that you pick the winning lottery numbers, or that you pass your math test when you did not study are a slap on the face of God.
It is not a good idea to pray for such things - it would have been better to pray that everyone was safe and happy at the end of the event.

to win a game is not the true meaning of prayer.it is to help others or yourself become more kind and enlightened to Gods way.The other team probably prayed to win also, prayer also is for healing and betterment of mankind and yourself in someway.you pray as if what you want has already happened, you visiualise the prayer coming true and it will many times, but God knows what we really need more than us

Of course there is meaning in prayer. You need to remember that God answers prayer IN HIS OWN TIME, not ours. Even when it seems He is not listening, He is and His answer may not be what you want, but it all has to do with the big picture and we will never be able to comprehend how He thinks.

yes, there is really a meaning, dont be an atheist!! always believe in Him, he sometimes give us trials, but it is for our own good also, like our parents and mentors, He would like us to learn, to get the lesson from it, continue praying and God will hear you, I promise you that..!! Prayers are answer in the 3 manner, 1.) Yes, 2.) No and 3.) Later...!!

THERE IS AN EFFECT FOR PRAYER!!
God sent his Son, Jesus, to die for your sins so that you can talk to God through prayer!
N
ine years ago, my dad went to a chiropracter, who broke a vessel in my dad's neck, resulting into a stroke-causing blood clot.
The doctors said my dad was going to die.
But my church prayed for him.
My dad improved.
The doctors then said that my dad would be parralyzed.
My dad improved.
The doctors then said that my dad wouldn't be able to walk.
My dad improved.
The doctors then said that my dad wouldn't be able to run.
My dad improved.
Today, through prayers, my dad is perfectly fine. He walks, runs, and works out four days a week. He walks with a slight limp.
PRAYER IS THE ANSWER!!!
God bless!

Yes there is, but people don't pray for the right things, and they don't pray unceasingly. I know that God blesses true believers and consistant prayer.

prayers are nothing more than wishing. Wishing= for it to work properly is you have to wish the very same wish everyday and it takes a long time for it to come about.

prayer is important..as long as you're praying to the right god. prayer is communication, and thats how you can get closer to God. sometimes He doesn't answer our prayers in the ways we'd expect him to, or the ways we want him to, but that doesn't mean that prayer is useless.
