Think about what kind of twins are in the family?
Remember, monozygotic (identical) twins don't run in families; they're random. You may not know if your great-granduncles were identical or not; often there is no way to know for sure without DNA testing. However, twins that share a close physical resemblance are more likely to be monozyotic. Boy/girl twins are always fraternal (dizygotic).

If the twins are present on your husband's/partner's side, it won't influence your chances of having twins. Remember, the gene for hyperovulation is only a factor for the mother. If your mother -- or your grandmother or aunt -- was or had fraternal twins, then you might have the gene. But your husband's family history has absoultely no bearing on your own children, except maybe for the future possibility that you might have twin grandchildren!

A family history of twins is only one of many factors that influence multiple birth.
Maternal age,
race,
weight,
diet and
reproductive history
all contribute to twinning and may have a stronger influence than family history.

Everyone always says the skip a generation, but I dont think its law. I think its just more common. So I would think that you could have twins. Your odds may be slightly higher than mine would be. For the people that told you their husbands are twins and they had twins. It has no bearing on the twins they had, twins always come from the mom. The dad determins other things like the sex of the twins.

Yes, they can. I have an identical twin and a doctor told me that identical twins are not hereditary but fraternal twins are. Identical twins are more of a genetic mutation so an identical twin would be no more likely to have twins than any other person but a set of fraternal twins have a higher chance of having twins but any one is capable of having twins. My best friends boyfriend mom is a twin and she has twins.

Identical twins are random and do not run in families, except by coincidence. Fraternal twins "run in families" on the mother's side only, if she inherits the gene for hyper ovulation.

Anybody can have twins. All it takes is a little extra hormones one month and poof, you've released 2 eggs instead of one, and you have fraternal twins.

You would think considering its hereditary. I think it all depends on the proses between like the sperm and the eggs and all that stuff. Plus you could also go for the artificial insemination then its just the luck of the draw.
