my first bit of advice is use a good quality DVD rw I have tried many cheap ones and they mostly end up as coasters or Frisbee's I personally favour the minus format but that's just my taste as I have had not so many coasters with this format tho many people claim the playback is better tho I cannot see any difference in the quality if you can burn CD,s without problems you should have no problems with DVD,s if you have the correct software cos its just a bit more long winded than a CD I also had a few problems to start with mainly a very slow computer with not enough memory but got myself a better machine and it is now fully sorted source disc in DVD drive empty DVD -rw in burner start program go downstairs for a coffee and ciggy return about 25 /30 minutes later and the burner tray is open with a perfect copy shining at me its just a matter of getting all the programs working together and bobs your uncle !

What software programs are you planning to use? I need more information. However, you can find a vast collection of guides on how to burn DVDs using various software programs at AfterDawn's website (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/). Most of the programs which are covered are either freeware or shareware. It's one weakness is the site does not cover newer video software, such as: AnyDVD, CloneDVD and RipIt4Me. Get back to me on which software programs you want to use and I can give you more information.
