I got a friend whos going to travel with me soon and we were both curious wether he needs to apply for a US passport to travel to another country because he only has a green card. I checked the US passport website but it doesnt say anything about green cards.

Thanks

The answer is no. You do not need a USA passport to travel outside the USA if you are not a citizen and possess only a green card. Obviously you will need your native country passport, and you will have to register with customs/immigration officials before you leave the country, but the requirement to have a USA passport only applies to USA citizens.

You need a passport if you're travelling outside the country of your nationality. Otherwise you're not going anyway and most airlines don't let you get on a flight if you don't show a passport.

He couldn't get a US passport, he would have to be a US citizen. He would have to get a passport from whatever country he has citizenship in. Which he should already have, since he's travelled to the US......
