If you are experiencing liver pain you are slowly killing yourself. Scorosis of the liver will eventually make your liver quit working. You need to see your doctor and you need to go to a in-house treatment facility. You need to find other ways of dealing with stress in your life. If you have kids you need to think of the example that you are setting for them. Do you like it when they see you drink all the time? Do you want them to think that drinking is the only way to deal with life's problems?

I had the same problem for many years and this is what I did.
In order to replace the booze you have to identify what is causing to drink. You've said stress, so find ways to releive stress without drinking. For example, if you drink on certain times, then replace those times to excersice, or if your working, replace the time leftover for a hobby. The body will go through withdrawal stages and that's expected. The issue is control, you control it, it doesn't control you. Once you begin the mental process to control the craving slowly replace it and gradually limit your comsumption. Buy less and less, stay away from smokers, stay away from drinking parties, package stores. Focus your mindset to say I WILL NOT DRINK TODAY. Much like mental hypnosis, over and over again and again. Finally change your diet, some food cater to booze, mine was spicy food with beer, wine pasta, or even snack with nuts. A dry mouth needs quenching replace it with fruit punch. Eventually you'll feel different and no booze. Remember slow and gradual because the effort is well worth it not mentioning the money you save for other things. Anyway, once you regain control , look at yourself in the mirror and you'll see the real you, personality and all. No more doubles. Watch the transformation. I wish you well and good luck. You can do it!

I understand how hard it is to stop. But the key thing is knowing you want to quit. Will-power is means going through with it. Get another vice, like video games, starbucks, or chinese checkers, just something. Drink O'douls- I know, GROSS. Just remember the liver pain before you drink. Kinda like throwing up and saying i'm, never gonna drink again. Try to associate alcohol with your liver pain.

Because alcoholism is something that isn't likely ever to be defeated, by anyone...
it's not something to beat, but to realize the significance of and take appropriate action.
appropriate action is seeking treatment in a professional detox facility and following exactly what they tell you to do, no matter your opinion on their directions.
if you see this as an option that has even a small chance of working and you don't do it then you're not yet serious enough for it to work. if it has a one in ten-thousandth chance of working then it's worth a try.

It sounds like you are ready to "put the plug in the jug - forever". Go to AA like crazy. Chase your sobriety the way you used to chase your drink. Good luck. You can do it, but very few can do it alone. Research shows that AA has been the most effective way. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days....and don't drink NO MATTER WHAT.
Good luck.

First see your normal doctor and make him aware of this problem. He or she should be able to refer you to an addiction specialist or recommend a rehabilitative program. Have you ever considered going to AA. They say 90 meetings in 90 days is fairly effective if you aren't willing to go to rehab. I am not a doctor so understand this is just an opinion.

Because you are not admitting powerlessness.
Most of us drink to drink. We create the stress only as an excuse to drink.
