If you see a visible stinger then it could be a bee.

Mudwasps? (I think the name comes from their nest material, if you try to follow one back to its nest) and I hear the stings are real nasty or bites, I don t know, that s the only big black waspy thing I know of, my dad often has had nests stuck to the brick under his back balcony or to the wood of the balcony and even through cracks between bricks of the house. If so you have to find the nest and get rid of it.

Run the hose for a half hour straight then put seran wrap with a rubber band wrapped to the end of your hose to keep them out.

here in the south, they are called "dirt dobbers"
they look like a wasp, are solid black, and be fore warned,
they bite!!! they were probably building a nest in your hose..

They also borr their way into wood, such as 2x4's and
