My pug was attacked by my step sisters dog. He's a boxer, they lived together perfectly for years but one day the boxer snapped on my pug. Scout E lost his vision in the attack but he is better than ever and always in high spirits.

I had a blind cat it was born will some sort of growth defect also so he never got bigger than the size he was at 8 weeks. The way animals adapt is amazing that cat could get on the couch, knew where the puppy pad was (he used a puppy pad since he couldn't get into the litter box) could smell food being poured from 3 rooms away. The only time that he ever got confused was if we rearranged furniture but he adapted in about one day and was climbing on to couches etc. Don't let him get outside without being on a leash (duh i know its a dumb thing to put its probably obvious) but he'll be fine. Animals are amazing at adjusting and since you said that he is in high spirits it seems as though he already has. As for you just become more aware of leaving things on the floor that are out of place, like a backpack or trash can so that he doesn't bump into it, i know this is a horrible thing for someone to have to go through but its not life threatening and your pug will live a full and happy life.

I don't have a blind pug, but I DO have a blind chihuahua (Glaucoma) and a blind shih tzu (cataracts). Both do very well. Try not to move furniture or his food and water dishes around too much. Remember that dogs rely much more on their sense of smell than their eyesight.
My biggest fear was stairs. Both of my dogs have no problem with the stairs in my house and when encountering stairs somewhere else will go up or down as long as I keep telling them "step".
So glad to hear that he is in good spirits and survived the attack well. Best of luck to both of you!

I have a pug that is 5 years old. She has lost her particle hearing and all of her sight. She lost her's with age according to our vet. My little lady has not lost her spirit either. Animals have a very keen sense of smell and their other senses intensify. I think that sometimes it is easier for them to handle things then we may think. Dogs are such gentle creatures but keep in mind that they are strong headed also..at least my Milly is.. :)

My dog was blind for almost 3 years before he passed away, his was caused his athritis medication. Dogs have great senses of smell they are usually able to navigate around just fine with out their sight. The only thing that he was nervous about at first was the steps to get to my back yard and I just told him "cosmo step up or cosmo step down" and he had no trouble.

This kind of thing happens alot with dogs. We had a little dog and lost one eye from a big dog. Our dog was fine and nothing changed about his spirit or personality. I would like to think dogs have a 6th sense and plus they have that wonderful snout so I think you little guy will do just fine.
