I'm Italian, living in Italy; I thinks there two topic may interesting to talk about: the development end evolution of independent television, from the small, cable only Telebiella in the 60's, to the huge growth in the 70s, then nationwide networks in the 80s; the lawfulness of both was questioned, at the time.
TV affect the growing of a Nation, other than reporting and witnessing it :)

More focused, how Japanese cartoon invasion in late 70s hit Italian culture (1978, Goldrake - Atlas Ufo Robot, a.k.a. as Ufo Robot Grendizer (English) or Goldorak (France)) . They did a lot more deeply than the more recently wave in the USA. May even be hard to believe, worth an analysis!

Another one: new FIAT 500 will be out for sell in a few weeks; 50 years ago the "old one" made cars available for everybody. FIAT 500 is part of Italian culture, like Beetle or Trabant for other Countries. Same about Vespa for moped.
