First of all...I like to think that my son is priceless! :)
Second, this is ridiculous. This is just going to encourage low-income women to have babies as a "full time job"
The government of Texas should spend that $500 per baby on education women about birth control!

Wow that is interesting, personally if I had the money I would give more than $500 because you cannot put a value on human life. But it is a start I guess. But I don't think they should be told that they have to keep them. If they don't want them to have an abortion and "keep" them than in my opinion they should pay for the expenses that parents have for a child for until that child moves out.
That is my opinion either way I believe abortion is WRONG!

texas is a very screwed up state, but i miss it terribly. my baby is worth way more than that, but that's beside the point. i don't really think this is very wise. first off, who's to say the woman doesn't just go after that and have the abortion, or that she's even capable of being a mother. i understand giving birth and adopting out, but some women out there don't, especially teenagers. i think this is a very weak attempt to end abortions, and most likely won't work.

The women get the money within 30 days after having the baby and giving it up for adoption. Not sure if I agree with the whole process or not. Where are they getting the money to pay these woman?

WEll to a young kid who has no idea what is up they may fall for it. However it wouldn't change my decision. I got pregnant unexpectantly (missed a day of the pill) and terminated the pregnancy as I DID NOT want any more kids and was divorced. My boyfriend didn't want any children either.
However I then promptly got a tubal to help never have that happen again. It is a sad state of affairs when our politicians show how dumb they really have gotten when they fell $500 is going to save tens of thousands in state tax dollars to support the unwanted child once it is born.

$500 wouldn't even cover the time off work to see a doc let alone the other expenses involved in a pregnancy.
I really can't see this working, it's pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

Not sure I could actually support this, but I think it is indicative of the fact that if a woman is callous enough to KILL her baby, she might also be callous enough to accept a measly $500 not to.

I don't see it passing as it would legally be questionable to price the life of a baby I would think.

Oh my God this this the worst thing ever... Why would anyone sell a baby for $500?
I would try to get Angelina Jolie to buy my baby for at least $5,000
