Please don't ever buy a dog from a pet store. The puppies sold in pet stores almost always come from puppy mills or yard breeders.

Have you tried looking though the puppy finders website? Just type in your zip code and it will give you a list to pets in your area.

Also, have you tried looking at Petsmart or Petco? i know that the Petmart and Petco where I live work with animal rescue organizations and the Petco near where I live ALWAYS has puppies. I've never gone in there yet when I didn't see puppies ready to be adopted.

Don't give up yet. I know that there's a puppy somewhere waiting for you to give him or her a loving home :-)

Good luck in your search. I'm sure you'll find a new furry friend soon.

ok first off yoiu do need to decide what kind of dog your looking for. or better yet what you are looking for in a Puppy. every breed , cross breed, an so on has differnet charastics. DO you want a little dog or a bigger dog? Where do you live, a house or apartment? how much time do you have to contribute to this puppy... they do take work and time and patience reguardless of breeed. I dont mean to offend but we just a bit more info. If you'd like to email me I' can try to help. the1mom1977@ayhoo.com. I will say this tho. PLEASE DO NOT BYE FROM A PET STORE. you feel like your helping that puppy in the window but it just encourages the puppymillers to breed more. for every 1 puppy sold in a store...a hundred or so are killed, born deformed, or brutilized because of their genetic deformities. I'm sorry if that is graffic but it is the truth. I will help you find what kind of puppy you want or at least narrow it down...lol Its a hard choice but you are right in not choosing just one...and asking for advise....

NEVER buy from a pet store!

Take a look at http://www.petfinder.com and look at shelter dogs there. They have a lot of cute dogs in need of forever loving homes. Don't have your heart set on a puppy because there are many older dogs with great temperaments and a bubbly personality.

Ask the vet you plan on using. A lot of times other patients with new puppies post at the vet's office.

NEVER buy from a petstore!

What breed are you looking for?? Check that breed rescue in your area. Sometimes if they don't have what you are looking for, they work with rescue in other areas that might be able to get you what you want.

if you know what breed you want, try looking at online rescue organizations like lab rescue.org nearly every breed has at least one.
